Start Up Basic cover unit
If you would like to increase your Basic cover and:
- your Basic cover began within six months of starting work with your
participating employer; and
- you have not reduced your Basic cover;
you can apply for an additional unit of Basic cover (a Start Up Basic cover unit) by answering a limited set of health questions to the satisfaction of the Insurer. You can apply using the application form available from Customer Service or our website.
However, your application for a Start Up Basic cover unit must be received by the Trustee within 60 days of First State Super receiving the first SG contribution paid for you by your participating employer. After that date, you will not be entitled to apply for a Start Up Basic cover unit, however, you may still wish to consider applying for Additional cover, as outlined below.
Depending on the evidence supplied, your application for a Start Up Basic cover unit may be accepted or refused. If your application is accepted, cover will commence on the date of acceptance.
Start Up Bonus cover
If you are:
- actively at work;
- permanently employed for at least the Minimum Hours (at least 15 hours) per week; and
- join First State Super within 6 months of commencing employment with your participating employer
you may apply for Start Up Bonus cover up to the maximum levels shown below within 60 days of First State Super receiving the first SG contribution for you from your participating employer. A limited amount of information about your health must be supplied.
You can apply for Start Up Bonus cover using the Start Up Bonus cover application form, available from Customer Service or our website. If your application is accepted, cover will not commence until your application is accepted by the Insurer.
