Occupation category example descriptions:

Basic Plus:You must apply and be accepted by the insurer to be in the Basic Plus category. You may be eligible for the Basic Plus insurance category if you work in a low-risk clerical or management occupation and you earn more than $80,000 a year (including SG). The $80,000 per year may be adjusted on a pro-rata basis if you are a part-time employe

White Collar: Members whose employment duties are predominantly office based including professionals such as accountants or lawyers, and other occupations such as teachers, or other tertiary educated people who work in sedentary positions.

Light Manual: Members who are not purely office based and not only in sedentary roles. Their occupational duties are not of a manual nature or within a hazardous environment. Some trade supervisory roles also fall into this category. The Health Sector falls into this category or if you are unemployed, your occupation category is ‘Light Manual’.

Manual: Members who have mostly manual occupational duties including occupations such as tradesmen, security guards and manufacturing type of occupations, including apprentices.

Heavy Manual: Members work in heavy manual occupations and in hazardous environments, including occupations such as cleaners.
