12 May 2008: How to stop the transfer of your account to an eligible rollover fund

Under the rules that apply to small and inactive account balances, First State Super is allowed to transfer these types of accounts to an eligible rollover fund (ERF). Inactive means we have not received contributions into the account for more than 12 months.

If you are a First State Super member and looking at your insurance arrangements, this calculator will help you to calculate the cost of the insurance options available through First State Super.

You may have received a letter from the Australia Taxation Office (ATO) advising you that First State Super has some of your lost super. Generally, this is because we have lost contact with you because we don’t have a valid or current address for you or we have not received contributions or rollover amounts for you in the past five years.

By updating your details with First State Super your super will no longer be lost. There are a number of quick and easy ways to do this.

18 March 2008: Contribution caps, have you reached yours?

If you or your employer make contributions over the Federal Government’s contribution caps, the amount of contributions over the caps will be taxed at a higher rate.

And once your contributions have gone over the caps you cannot ask your superannuation fund for refund of contributions.
